A hotel with a long history
A hotel dating back to the 19th century
Skara Stadshotell an elegant and historic hotel located in the heart of downtown Skara. The hotel was built as early as 1874, when the arrival of the railroad brought an increased influx of visitors to the city. The hotel was designed by architect Emil Viktor Langlet and was completed in 1875. The large and grand ballroom bears witness to many different kinds of events, and here both students have waltzed and royalty have dined.
In 1986, the Roser brothers purchased the Skara Stadshotell from the municipality of Skara. They expanded the business to include catering and events, Stadshotell Skara Stadshotell a major part of Skara’s entertainment scene. The hotel hosted everything from music festivals and Oktoberfest celebrations to city races and revues. In 2020, Jula took over ownership of Skara Stadshotell since then, extensive renovations have been carried out on the hotel. We have preserved its elegant and classic style while updating it with modern details that will endure for many years to come.

In 1909, a fire broke out at the hotel, and architect Lars Kellman oversaw the subsequent renovation.

In 1971, Jean and Hilde Roser took over the property and acquired the surrounding properties, which opened up opportunities for more hotel rooms and the expansion of the business.

1986 Brothers Stig and Bengt Roser take over management of the business. 1993 Construction of the theater begins in August, and it opens as early as December 29 of the same year.

On August 28, 2020, Jula Hotell, owned by the Blank family, took over Skara Stadshotell the Roser family, who had operated the hotel since 1966 and owned and developed it since 1986. After the contracts were signed between Karl-Johan Blank and Bengt and Stig Roser, a renovation project began that lasted 18 months. On February 25, 2022, Skara Stadshotell reopened its doors.
