Our conference rooms

The Stadshotellet was built in 1875, when the arrival of the railroad brought an increased influx of visitors to Skara. Our grand banquet hall has hosted many different types of events. The large banquet hall is part of our banquet floor and seats 200 guests. It is equipped with a hearing loop, microphone, and sound system. The banquet hall is perfect for weddings and dinners, as well as conferences.

Our mid-level lounge, Blank, is named after the Blank family, the owners of Jula. The history of the Jula Group and the Blank family began at the Jultorp estate on the outskirts of the Varaslätten plain in Västergötland. Jula’s acquisition of Skara Stadshotell that this historic hotel can continue to thrive. The lounge seats 60 people and is used for conferences, parties, and dinners.

The Lerin Room is a unique part of Skara Stadshotell houses a large collection of works by the acclaimed artist Lars Lerin. There are a total of 81 works of art at the hotel, and this room brings together several of them to offer a glimpse into Lerin’s artistic journey. The paintings reflect different periods of his life, with the oldest piece dating back to when he was in his early 20s.

The room is furnished for board meetings and is used for conferences, wine tastings, and dinners. It offers an inspiring atmosphere and can accommodate up to 20 people.

The Wennerberg Salon is a small room on the banquet floor and is named after Gunnar Wennerberg. For half a century, he played a central role in Swedish cultural and social life. But it is above all for *Gluntarne* that he became famous and is remembered. These 30 poems set to music for bass and baritone were published between 1849 and 1851 in thirteen separate booklets and became very popular. The room is furnished with boardroom seating and is well-suited for small dinners or meetings. The salon is 25 square meters and accommodates 10 people.

The Small Hall 2, as it is also known, is part of the banquet hall and is named after Eva Åsbrink. Among other things, she served as principal of the Cathedral School in Skara from 1961 to 1978, chair of the Skara City Council from 1963 to 1966, and chair of the Skara Parish Council. In addition, Eva served as vice-chair of the church council and the church assembly, and as a member of the Swedish Parliament from 1969 to 1976, elected from the Skaraborg County constituency; she was also the first woman in Sweden to earn a doctorate in theology. The Åsbrink Salon is 15 square meters, seats 8 people, and features lounge-style furnishings suitable for both dinners and meetings.

Our third room on the banquet floor is named after architect Emil Viktor Langlet, who designed Stadshotell Skara Stadshotell . Following a fire in 1909, the subsequent renovation was designed by Lars Kellman of Borås. Today, the room is used for dinners or meetings. It seats 12 people, measures 30 square meters, and features a boardroom layout.

The French term "chambre séparée" means "private room." A "chambre séparée" is a separate room within a restaurant—a "room within a room" that can be closed off to provide privacy from other guests. The room measures 30 square meters and can accommodate 10 people. It is furnished in a boardroom style and can be used for both dinners and as a meeting room. As a guest, you also have access to a 75-inch TV in the room.

Our cigar room is named after Peter Hernquist, the father of Swedish veterinary medicine. He was a student of Carl Linnaeus, and in 1775 he founded Sweden’s first and the world’s sixth veterinary institution in Skara, a training center for veterinarians. This space is well-suited for meetings or various types of tastings—whiskey, beer, and wine, for example. The room is 35 square meters, features lounge furniture, and can accommodate 11 people.

Levin's Room is our quiet room, named after the candy maker Ida Levin, who was born in 1886 in Vinköl. She sold her caramels for the first time at the spring market in Skara in 1908. In 1918, she opened a shop where she sold her homemade caramels. She was first located on Malmgatan, where she ran her business until 1926, and after that, the shop was located at Marumsgatan 10.

Brattgård is one of our conference rooms and is named after Helge Brattgård, who was born in Gothenburg in 1920. He was a Swedish theologian and bishop of the Diocese of Skara from 1969 to 1985.

Our conference room is called Aurelius and is named after Erik Aurelius, a Swedish theologian and professor who served as bishop of the Diocese of Skara from 2004 to 2012.

The Bonnier Conference Room is named after Åke Gabriel Bonnier, who was born in Stockholm in 1957. He has served as bishop of the Diocese of Skara since 2012.

Karl-Gunnar Grape inspired the name of our conference room, Grape. He was born in Umeå in 1922 and also served as bishop of the Diocese of Skara from 1985 to 1989.

Lönnermark is one of our larger conference rooms and is named after Lars Göran Gillis Lönnermark, born in 1939 in Gothenburg. He is a Swedish bishop emeritus and court chaplain. He served as bishop of the Diocese of Skara from 1989 to 2004.
